I appear in a haunted house, but I am not a ghost or monster. You might see me in neglected areas and trees.

You can spread me but do not eat me; garden with me, but I alone cannot produce. You can clean and make soaps with me, for I have a lots of use.

I stand tall and wrapped in stripes The fat of giant sea beasts fuels my light My glowing eye burns through the grey A mighty guide till the break of day

I climb without a ladder, I burn though there's no flame, No fire kindles me, yet I flare, I measure truth in mercury’s stare.
